This comprises a new generation of thermal energy storage boards in which a phase change material (PCM) is bound within a secondary supporting structure, in this case a natural wood fibre board. Used in thermal energy storage applications, the bound PCM melts and congeals, thus storing and releasing the latent heat associated with the phase change process. In RUBITHERM FB our patented mechanism ensures that the PCM, when in the liquid form, does not leak out of the board. The result is that the bound PCM is always a solid in its macroscopic form. The RUBITHERM® FB in which approx. 65 % of PCM is contained, provides high latent heat storage capacities. Relatively thin layered, thus lightweight boards, can for example, considerably improve the temperature retention in an insulated transport box at a relatively constant temperature level. Applications One of the most promising
applications for RUBITHERM®
FB is the RUBITHERM
latent
heat storage elements used as a supplementary heat source for the
transport of hot food. Examples are the delivery of meals to the elderly,
pizza or other fast food delivery, transport of meals to company canteens,
or in-house distribution of hot meals in hospitals, hotels, etc. |
